I would like to take a moment to write a letter of gratitude and thanks to the residents of the Town Of Lyons, the Lyons Recorder, and to in particular to all those who gave so generously of their time, their businesses, and their art and musical talents. You all helped ensure that as a town that cares for its own, our Taking Care of Our Own concert and silent auction benefit for Amber Wilson was such a success, I say thank you!
To those who helped this benefit raise nearly $ 2,700, I say to you all that only in beautiful small towns such as our town is it possible to make something like this come to fruition and help a good friend and Lyons pal, Amber Wilson, out in such a time of great need. Lyons is the kind of town I feel a spiritual connection with. Smaller towns often have a tight-knit community that understands and believes in the philosophy of helping out those in genuine need. It reminds us all of what is priority in our lives - even during times of economic strife for so many. Even from out-of-state came donations from total strangers who heard about this! The list is long, but I feel it is so worth it to say from the bottom of my heart, thank you more than words can really express and this goes out to not only the folks who came to the benefit but also: the lovely and caring Ellen and Gabry at Lyons ReRuns, Nicholas Angelo Fine Art, Experience Boutique, Lyons Fork, Pizza Bar 66, Lyons Mercantile, Cheribundi, Sally Truitt, Elephant Revival, Kahlie Sue Pinello, our illustrious new Lyons musician resident (and emcee for the benefit) Danny Shafer, Brenna at Peaceful Spirit Massage, Oskar Blues, Bronwyn at Lyons Physical Therapy, all the mechanics at Lyons Automotive, Jake & Suzanne Page, Michelle Vendenga, The Barking Dog, Amanda Anderson, Barb Harrison, Amie Olson, Organilicious Organic Foods, Chrystal DeCoster, Monica McGuckin, Dan & Kathy Siddall, Big Foot Liquors, Andy & Janice Hall, Caleb Roberts and the Open Road Bluegrass Band alumni (David Richey, Keith Reed, Jean Ballhorn, Alex Johnstone), Eben Grace & Jami Lunde, KC Groves & Arthur Lee Land, David and Enion Tiller, Dusty Rider, Garian Vigil, and Amy Reinhold. Your generosity knows no bounds, and due to this, Amber knows it is worth fighting such a challenge.
