Dear Lyons Residents,
The Board of Trustees has been working many hours over the past couple of months constructing the 2013 budget for the Town of Lyons. We set out with the goal to write a balanced budget that is
funded by revenues and to maximize services to Lyons residents. We felt it important to scrutinize every budget request that came in front of us and frequently we sent requestors back to their spreadsheets to find more savings.
Well now we turn it to you.
The next time the budget appears on the Board’s agenda it will be for public comment. Last month, while discussing the Board’s schedule, we were told that turn out for the budget’s public hearing was traditionally very low. The public hearing date was rescheduled to occur on a date after Thanksgiving, increasing the likelihood that residents will be in town and able to attend the public hearing.
Please consider this an invitation to you to get a copy of the budget from Town Hall and to attend the November 26 Board of Trustees meeting and make your voice heard. Representative government is a transparent process that thrives with public participation. We look forward to your comments.
