I had the pleasure of being a Lyons Lions football team mom this year, but I didn’t do it alone. Not only did I have two amazing co-captains who did just as much as I did – Liz Triffet and Denise Dick-Clark – but I had other parents who stepped up so much (Paul Triffet, Michelle Titus and Brian Kalvig are just three who come to mind) that I have to say: Lyons rocks!
So many people helped make this a great year for our players that they cannot all be named individually. The way Lyons parents step up to tasks is simply amazing. People who donate desserts and flip burgers for every home game. Parents who keep statistics. People who bring food for travel bags and team dinners. School staff and students who help with everyday needs and special projects. Thank you. We couldn’t have done it without you!
These three people deserve special note:
Gary Gorman: You have been so dedicated to this community, this school and this team for years. You even stayed with us when you didn’t have a player on the team, and we appreciate it so much. We know you spend hours every week taking photos and writing articles for us to look forward to every Thursday and include in scrapbooks as keepsakes for life. Thanks to you and to the Lyons Recorder for providing the vehicle for such great coverage.
Brian Donnell: You stepped up to the videotaping task when no one else would, and you gave us high-quality, important tapes. They could make a difference in a kid’s future; they did help our players and coaches excel; and they have provided our boys with something that will help them always remember their high school football careers. Thank you so much.
Tatiana Raspotnik: Your videos were spectacular. I hope you know how much they mean to so many parents and players. You have an amazing talent, and what you did will be treasured always. We are so grateful for your incredible mementos.
One final special thanks: to every one of the Lyons Lions State Semi-Finalist Football Players. We had some really tough blows this year, but every single player stepped up as a team to make it a season to remember. Thanks, boys! You rock!
