Dear Lyons Community,On behalf of the Lyons Clarifier Project, Priscilla Cohan and I would like to thank Trustee Ed Bruder for arranging, and Parks and Rec. director, Dave Cosgrove, for the mowing and clearing around the Clarifier work area. It was too big a job for our hand held scythe to clear the space we need to work all summer. Really appreciated; we know how busy you are around Good Old Days.
Also, we are asking the Lyons community for items we especially need now (delivered to the site by blue shed, or call us for pick up; 823-5655 or 823-0970):
- Five-gallon (and smaller) plastic buckets for sorting and carrying mosaic materials (ask for them whenever you visit a restaurant)
- Plastic tubs and trays
- Black granite tiles or other high fire (outdoor) black tiles for our “outline”
As always, we invite you to join us, either to lend a hand or just check out our progress. Our scheduled work days are Sundays from 10 a.m. to noon and Wednesdays from 5 to 7 p.m.
Many tasks to choose from: chipping and sizing stone and mosaic materials, surface mosaic application, sorting materials by color and more. Want to learn the art of mosaic making? No experience necessary; we show you how. We’re always being asked, “When will it be done?” Our response: “We don’t know, but the more you show up, the sooner that will be.” Check out our blogsite to see some of our twelve eighteen-inch circular Zodiac mosaics, and the Golden Gang, GAP, Honor Society students five-foot in diameter “Sun Tile” which will be installed later this summer. Come be a part of the creation of Lyons premier art monument in the making.
