In the previous issue of The Recorder, it was stated that “...you had to believe [ex-Trustee Brian Donnell] wasn’t too sorry he wasn’t the one having to come up with a solution for this mess!”
I would like to clarify that this highly speculative comment was made without any input from me and couldn’t be further from the truth. It completely misrepresents my feelings and involvement on this issue.
I have never felt the need to grandstand on any Town issues. Instead, I have weighed in with my own comments to others on this issue when and where I have deemed appropriate. I feel the medical marijuana issue is an important one and would do all I can to help see the current BOT take all input fairly & openly, then weigh in as appropriate on this difficult, constitutional issue. It has never been an “easy” issue--either during my last term or with this new BOT--but I have confidence that as long as Lyons can maintain civility in its discussions, our BOT will be able to exercise its collective wisdom in this matter.
Editor’s Note: Mr. Donnell, you are correct, my comment was entirely speculative; other than nodding hello at the end of the meeting, I did not have any interaction with you that evening. I am truly sorry that my glib statement misrepresented your feelings and involvement concerning the medical marijuana issue in Lyons. After covering the BOT meetings for the last four years I have the utmost respect for the time, service, and dedication you gave to your duties as a Trustee and Mayor Pro Tem. Again, I apologize for my statement.
