The Spring Gulch Men’s Book Club met last Thursday at the Mill Site Inn, near Ward. The club is regarded (by its members) as the oldest men’s book club in the area. This month’s book, “Wort and Pizza” (based roughly on the Tolstoy classic), seemed appropriate as the Mill Site specializes in high-altitude, high-gluten pizza, and well, there always seems to be beer available at their meetings. Pictured are (right to left) Jack St. John, Greg Harms, Dave Brininstool, Clark Hodge, and Mill Site Inn proprietor Carol. Carol commented that we were the first exclusively male book club to visit her
establishment in the twenty-five years she’s been an owner. As we left she reminded us that, “It’s all downhill from here.” Photo-credit goes to Steve Lang, one of the founding members of the club. Jack, who is recovering from a recent surgery, stated, “There’s no better recovery protocol, than spirited conversation.” Although, many members couldn’t make this meeting, the attendees felt that their absinthe made the heart grow fonder.
