Traditionally, each year in September, Italian wine makers would invite friends, family and neighbors to help bottle their new wines. After the bottling, which took 3 to 4 hours, everyone
would gather to celebrate the bountiful harvest and bottling with a grand meal of pasta, salads, crusty garlic breads, and of course good wine. Ciatano Winery, just three miles up Rte. 36 towards Estes Park (at the covered bridge), will be celebrating this year’s bountiful harvest with their first annual “La Familia Wine Bottling Festival” on Saturday, September 25, from noon to 4 p.m., and they invite everyone in Lyons to come join the fun.

Tour the winery, see where the wines are made, and observe the bottling process. Learn about the history of wine making, the Rock n’ River Resort property, and it roots in local history as a homestead. Winery tours start on the hour (noon, 1 p.m., and 2 p.m.), with a special Italian lunch and wine tasting provided after each tour. From 3 to 4 p.m., try your hand at bottling wines (call for reservations, limited number of spots available).
Tickets are $20 per person in advance, $25 at the door. Price includes a 15 to 20 minute tour, including watching the bottling process, tasting of five wines, and lunch. For more information, or reservations, please call 823.5011, or go online at www.ciatanowinery.com.
