Inside, in addition to coffee, tea, soft drinks, and snacks, she has created several separate “themed sitting areas.” There is a “kids area” with a table for doing artwork or homework, a pinball machine, air hockey table, and a black light, just to add a little atmosphere. There is the “oceanic” area, the “gilded cage” area, the “secret garden” where plants abound, the “love nest” with birds and peacock feathers, and the “book nook,” no explanation should be necessary. There is also “Jeff’s Corner,” with free wi-fi and a printer if you need to get a little work done out of the office.
When it comes to gifts, there is a little something for everybody. Books, hand-knitted scarves and hats, jewelry, bath salts and soaps, candles, unique custom hand-painted furniture, greeting cards (some of them are created from images by Lyons school children and Golden Gang members), and even the art on the wall is for sale. And if something catches your fancy and the need should arise, there is an ATM for your shopping convenience.
Wanda will also have poetry readings, live music, including “intellectual jazz,” and would love to host group meetings for book clubs, knitting groups etc. Her hours are Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. For more information about upcoming live entertainment, you can call (303) 823-5030.
