One of the many changes Stone has made to the small media company was upgrading the internet speeds. He now offers up to 7MB speeds that compete with the larger corporate media branches. “I felt that it was important to keep up with what our larger competitors were doing,” says Stone. “Upgrading the Internet was my first option because everything nowadays is online. People need faster speeds and better reliability.” He held on to the ever-popular slower speeds as well to keep some low cost options available for families that are on a tight budget.
Part of the CAMS Cable appeal, are the sports channels that are included in the basic cable package. While most other companies charge extra for a sports bundle, CAMS maintains low costs for the sports fan. “I just asked myself, ‘What would I want in my cable package?” The answer was simple: “Don’t charge extra for sports!” exclaims Stone. He has recently added some new options to the lineup like “The History Channel” and “Comedy Central” as well as some High Definition channels.
Be on the lookout in the coming months for phone service from the local media company. CAMS will be offering a triple play package of cable, internet, and phone that starts under $60! Worried that your Internet will run slower when you are on the phone? CAMS has you covered. “We have enough bandwidth that your phone usage will not effect your Internet speeds at all,” claims Stone. With contract-free service, quirky grassroots advertising, and family-run customer assistance, CAMS is quickly becoming one of the most talked about local businesses in town.
“We care deeply about the local community,” says Stone. “We have partnered with some other local businesses to cross-promote and serve the community of Lyons as much as we can.” And CAMS has been working on providing free wireless Internet to the downtown area for anyone and everyone who needs to log on. Expect to see that and a lot more from Cameron Stone in the coming months. Come visit the CAMS Cable booth at the 35th Annual Lyons Good Old Days, June 24 and 25.
