Boulder Communities Eye EVs As Important Climate Strategy

Achieving deep emissions reductions (eighty percent or more by 2050) as now called for by climate scientists will require a comprehensive transportation plan that significantly reduces single occupancy vehicle trips and aggressive strategies to replace the remaining cars with clean energy vehicles, according to a report released today by the Southwest Energy Efficiency Project (SWEEP).

BoCo Healthy Kids and Adults Gets Grant

The Boulder County Healthy Kids and Adults (BCHKA) program has been awarded nearly $310,000 to help enroll remaining uninsured residents in health coverage. The eighteen-month Colorado Health Foundation grant, announced earlier this year, will build on many of the successful health coverage efforts already underway in Boulder County.

BoCo Worthy Cause Funding Now Available

Nonprofit human service agencies and housing authorities in Boulder County may now apply for capital funds through Boulder County’s 2016 Worthy Cause pool.

The Worthy Cause Request for Funding application for 2016 pool funding is available on the Boulder County website (http://www.bouldercounty.org/gov/tax/pages/worthycause.aspx). Applications must be submitted through Boulder County’s online application system by 4:30 p.m. on June 19.

During the 2008 General Election, Boulder County voters approved an extension of the 0.05 percent Worthy Cause sales tax

Some Seasonal Raptor Closures Lifted

The City of Boulder’s Open Space and Mountain Parks (OSMP) Department last week lifted seasonal raptor closures in three locations along the city’s mountain backdrop. The areas where OSMP lifted closures are: The Box/Back Porch; The Wings; and Shadow Canyon. The Matron area remains closed.

Cliffs on the city’s open space provide high-quality nesting habitat for local raptors, including peregrine falcons, prairie falcons and golden eagles. OSMP lifted closures in the three locations after staff and volunteers did not observe nesting

BoCo Parks And Open Space Celebrates Forty Years

Boulder County is celebrating its fortieth anniversary throughout the year with multiple opportunities for public participation.

Increased Enforcement Of Off-leash Regulations

The City of Boulder’s Open Space and Mountain Parks (OSMP) Department will increase enforcement of new Voice and Sight Tag Program changes that went into effect on Jan. 1. The changes require off-leash dogs to visibly display current blue Voice and Sight Tags, which demonstrate their guardians have complied with new program requirements. Previously issued green tags are no longer valid.
