The Boulder County Horse Association’s Annual Meeting will take place on February 15, 2011 at the Spice of Life Event Center, 5706 Arapahoe Avenue, Boulder, from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm. BCHA members and the public are invited to attend. The event is free but donations are welcome.
BCHA is celebrating its 40th year as a staunch advocate for horses and the equestrian lifestyle in Boulder. Each year the organization presents a special Achievement Award to those whose efforts on behalf of the horse community in Boulder County go beyond the normal course of daily life. This year two awards will be made: to Longmont-based Rex Ross Walker, owner of Sombrero Ranches and the largest owner of horses in North America, whose wranglers are always made available to help evacuate horses during Boulder’s wildfires; and to Peter S. Bakwin – a non-equestrian -- for his tireless support of equestrian access to Boulder’s Open Space & Mountain Parks. Additional featured topics for the meeting will include a summary of BCHA’s Accomplishments over the past year and its goals for 2011, as well as election of the next Board of Directors.
The Boulder County Horse Association promotes, protects, and unifies the equestrian community of Boulder County through education, recreation and legislation. BCHA is a 501 (c) 3 organization. Its website is www.boulderhorse.org
