BCAA Awards Grants to Local Artist

The following individual artists and arts organizations in Boulder County received $1,500 - $3,000 grants from the Martha Kate Thomas Fund for Artists, a fund of the Community Foundation Serving Boulder County and administrated by the Boulder County Arts Alliance (BCAA). Grants from this fund were awarded to artists who live or work in Boulder County and who have unforeseen needs due to special circumstances. This fund was established in October 2013; not surprisingly, the predominant theme of grant requests pertained to flood related challenges.

About Town - December 26, 2013

ANOTHER WEEK GONE BY
Christmas is here. Most all of Lyons and now water in Apple Valley, got our Christmas Gift, and are back in our homes for the Holidays.  We are sad for the confluence area, but like the phoenix things are happening. Janet & Dave Orback’s home at 3rd & Park is getting, the first, to be raised-out-of-the floodplain.

Paddling To Alaska -III

By Kelly Yelverton

Editor’s Note: Lyons resident Kelly Yelverton recently graduated from college in Washington state. To celebrate her accomplishment, she and a friend have decided to paddle their sea kayaks on a 1200-mile journey through the Inside Passage to Alaska. She will be sending written updates and photos of her adventure throughout the summer.

Paddling is all about rhythm.
