About Town - March 14, 2013

Two snow storms in one week! The first was nice and  wet and melted right away and now it is snowing again.

Good for the country. Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!  We certainly enjoy Daylight Savings Time, giving us longer evenings.

This weekend is the “wearin’ of the green” in honor of all descendants of Ireland. In the early 1800s, many of those who were jailed in Ireland would be sent to Australia. Many Irish came to the United States to escape the yoke of British tyranny, thus we honor them for their perseverance. Most of us have some Irish blood “by golly!” Wear green and celebrate!

Balance Your Vices: Caffeine

By  Dr. Sara Hart

Stillwater Healing Arts Clinics

It’s amazing how much caffeine people can consume. The tolerance for eight ounces or three pots can be about the same perceived experience from one individual to the next.  Caffeine can make for an incredibly exhilarating sensation with the heart pounding, inspiration rolling, mind sharp as a tack, and fingers drumming along the days work effortlessly.

Yet we all know the experience of over-doing it.  Exploiting the clever substance as if to change our personalities to be more energetic, interesting and efficient.  With the mountain of daily tasks most people try to accomplish these days, its no wonder caffeine is the #1 addicted substance in America.

Caffeine comes in many forms and is an amazing compound of nature’s pharmacopoeia.  As with all things amazing, understanding the pros and cons, as well as the right dosage to use,

About Town, March 7, 2013

Say, that was a nice snow we had Monday.  It looks like spring is just around the corner. A nice spring snow that melted right away, some crocus are blooming, the days are longer, and Daylight Savings Time is this Sunday morning at 2 a.m., turn your clocks forward one hour.  Yes, spring is sprung.

FOR YOUR SAFETY
When the trailer home burned last week, we wondered if it had smoke detectors?  I haven’t heard, but that is one thing we must all purchase; a smoke detector as well as a carbon monoxide detector. The cost is around $30 for both. Go to Clark’s Hardware today, and be safe. We read where James of the trailer needs clothing (Pants size 30” x 32”, shirts size large, and shoes size 10)) and household goods. Help him out.  Leave stuff at the firehouse, as he lost everything in that fire!

Tackling A Rental Car’s Secrets

Roads Traveled With Linda L. Osmundson

The snow predicted for last week’s Tuesday afternoon arrived early in the morning. Our drive to DIA on mostly wet, slick roads from Fort Collins took longer than expected. Once there, our noon flight was delayed because heavily overcast skies and runway conditions caused diversion of our incoming plane to Colorado Springs. We were in no hurry. Even with a delay, our 6:30 dinner reservations in Santa Rosa, California, seemed makeable. We finally left Denver about an hour and a half late. No problem – yet.

Poetry Talk - March 7, 2013

Slow the Dance
Let your soul purpose be your sole purpose.
Let your arms float on the air
   all around
Greeting the universe with the
    cosmic sound
Let your knees bend
   one by one
Sink into the earth
   only to rise again.

Slow the dance
   keep the energy high
You’ll make the right steps
For there are no mistakes
When you heart beats pure
   essence of life
Slow the dance
  Let the universe in.
