“From the Ground Up”

Come celebrate summer with the opening of Rabbit Brush Gallery’s sculpture garden. “From the Ground Up” highlights new work by two local ceramicists: Boulder artist Cris Conklin and Lyons artist Marc Campbell. Cris uses the sgraffito technique to decorate her salt-fired pottery with images of beauty from the natural world. Marc is a utilitarian potter who creates soda-fired, functional, playful pieces.

Martha "Lou" Speier

Martha “Lou” Speier of Nathrop, CO, formerly of Boulder, died Thursday, April 9. She was 81.
A Committal Service was held at Ft. Logan National Cemetery in Denver on Wednesday, April 22; with a celebration of her life held in Boulder at the American Legion later that afternoon. A Mass was said Tuesday, April 28, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Salida, CO.

Another week gone by, and a lot of good rain; We need it, but when it keeps coming in a downpour it is a worry! 

THIS THURSDAY, APRIL 30, from 6 to 7:30 p.m., there is a public meeting at the Lyons M/Sr  High School on spring run off. Residents from the Lyons area: North and South St. Vain, Lyons, Apple Valley, Longmont Dam Road, etc., are invited to attend. We should all be prepared, just in case. We have no control of the weather, scary!

Yes, another week gone by, and what a good rain. As it was really pouring down, it was very scary. Reminding of us of the September 2013 flood (it was the most rain since the flood). I was actually glad when it stopped! We can see the pastures and hills green up right before our eyes! Spring has sprung!
