About Town Nov. 8, 2012

THIS IS THE DAY!  A lovely day, to end all those political ads on TV and in the papers. It will be a welcome relief.  May the best men or women win!
I am mostly interested in the Mill Levy override 3A, and hope it passes for the welfare of our kids of the St.Vrain, the knowledge, the property values, the community, and all that good schools bring to us all.

About Town, Oct 25, 2012

Wasn’t this a wonderful week.  A time to go on a trip through Lyons, the “Double Gateway of the Rockies,” to Estes Park, up Highway 7, down the Big Thompson Highway 34, or up 36/66.  We are very fortunate to have such lovely weather and great scenery.  Of course, all good things come to an end, which is supposed to be in a day or two with some snow.  That’s Colorado!

Another beautiful week gone by! That snow was nice, and we needed the moisture. Coming from   the east, you can see that the mountains got quite a bit of snow, which is still there.  We will need a LOT OF SNOW TO CATCH UP!  Of course, we don’t want it to snow for Halloween or the Christmas Bazaar and parade, or for the football games, but otherwise we will welcome it!

WHAT LOVELY FALL WEATHER!
Take a drive up the North or South St. Vrain Canyons, or a walk to Meadow or Bohn Parks and enjoy.  It is breathtaking to realize that we actually live in this wonderous spot!  Aren’t we lucky!

Ask the Handy Woman!

Answers to your home maintenance and repair questions

By Kheli Mason, The Handy Woman LLC

Last month I wrote about the pros and cons of two types of hot water heaters. I was expecting that I might catch a little “heat” from proponents of one type or the other. What I did get was a wonderful email with yet another option that I thought would be good to share in this month’s column. Here is what Bud O’Connor had to add to the conversation:

New Friendships Through Mutual Interests

By Kathleen Spring

Having best friends to share an event, an outing, or an emotion with is one of life’s best experiences. Some of our earliest memories are of swimming with friends in the summer, playing in the school playground in the fall, exchanging silly gifts at Christmas, or secret messages being exchanged. It’s never too late to generate new friendships and gather new memories.
