For the last five years I’ve tried to give readers ideas of places to visit and things to do whether in Colorado or elsewhere. It’s been an honor to work with Lora Gilson, publisher, and Joseph Lekarczyk, editor, of the Lyons Recorder. Another week gone by. What beautiful weather, but it’s too dry. We need some rain. The slow and steady kind.

The Habitat for Humanity housing at the Valley Bank site is making some progress, and the town continues to look at the Railroad Avenue land by the firehouse for duplexes or small senior apartments.

Off The Wall

Off The Wall is a collaborative art show by local artists Amanda Anderson and Kahlie Sue Pinello. This “not to be missed” show runs through the month of October at The Stone Cup with an opening reception (also not to be missed) to meet and chat with the artists will be held on Friday, October 2, from 6 to 9 p.m. Musical entertainment for the evening will be provided by Eric the Viking.

Jerry Fikes

Jerry Thomas Fikes passed away on Saturday, September 12, at his home in Lyons. He is survived by his wife, Sandi, son J.T., daughter Killion, stepson Jesse Atkinson, sister Jennifer Erickson and her husband Jim Erickson, and parents Tom and Nancy Fikes.
