Maybe a fitness class or a personal trainer is the way to jump start the resolutions back on track, but what should you be looking for in that trainer or class?
From the earliest recorded history, midwives have been attending women in birth. In fact the etymology of the very word “midwife” comes from Middle English and means “with women.” Before the 1600s almost all babies in the world were born into the hands of the community midwife. Of all the plantations viewed along the Mississippi River cruise aboard the American Queen, Oak Alley fulfilled every idea of southern antebellum homes (houses built and occupied before the Civil War). Visions of Tara in “Gone with the Wind” came to mind (columned portico, wide staircase, opulent furniture, servants). Today Oak Alley may not now compare to Tara, but it probably did in its heyday.

Our pal, Geneva Thomas, tells us that daylight savings time will be on Sunday, March 10, at 2 a.m., when we turn our clocks ahead (spring forward, fall back) one hour. I want to take a look at how various average returns for the market might impact a typical person’s retirement situation. I will use Monte Carlo analysis in our retirement planning application to run various scenarios where average stock market returns are low for the next twenty years and then revert to historical return levels after that.
Valentine’s Day should have brought out a lot of love for your companion: a great dinner, flowers, and of course a box of candy. It is always nice to tell her or him that you appreciate them putting up with you and your traits in spite of it all. Happy Valentine’s Day, you all!
