The Boulder County plein air artist community and the Boulder County Parks and Open Space Department and Foundation are excited to host the second Plein Air Exhibit featuring Boulder County Parks and Open Space lands. A plein air “paint-out” will take place from June 1, through August 10, on Boulder County open space properties.

Sunday was Mothers’ Day and although cold and snowy, I am sure you all had time to remember your mother, for all she has done for you. A plant, dinner, corsage, drive, church, etc., no doubt made her proud that you were hers. My mother was a schoolteacher, and we had to get our homework done by a coal oil lamp (before REA in 1937), and walk to school

Boulder County Area Agency on Aging, a Division of Community Services, will hold the National Caregiver Training Program, a course for family caregivers of older adults, on Thursdays, from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m., from May 29, through July 17 (there will be no class on June 26), in Boulder. The class was originally scheduled for May 1. through June 19.

Local runner David Selden participated in another successful Greenland 50K (31 mile) trail race on Saturday May 3, in Greenland, Colorado. Selden ran a personal record for the distance by over two minutes (4:45:35), and placed 15th out of nearly 150 finishers. In addition, this is the fourth time in five years, Selden has earned the RRCA (Road Runners of America) Colorado Grandmasters (50+) 50K Trail Championship.

Lyons singer Beth Gadbaw has been honored as a teacher of excellence in the field of music education, specifically the teaching of folksongs. Gadbaw flew to Minneapolis to accept her award: The Fleurette Sweeney Fellowship, bestowed by MusicEdventures International Association of SongWorks Teachers.
