The Lyons Garden Club is now moving forward with plans to begin cleaning-up and restoring of some landscape areas in town that were damaged during the flood. While some planting areas were severely damaged, there are others, which can be returned to their former beauty with just a little T.L.C., and the help of volunteers.

I recently sat down with my favorite musical couple, Taylor and Bonnie Sims. There was so much going on in their collective careers that I wanted to get it straight from their lips.
Let’s start with how they arrived on the local music scene. In 2003 Taylor relocated from Texas to Gunnison Colorado to work on a ranch there. He and Alex Johnstone and Chris Elliott started playing music together and a bond began. They moved back to Texas and with Jessica Smith recorded their first CD there as Spring Creek bluegrass band.

Mental Health Partners has closed its Drop-in Center in Lyons located at the Walt Self Community Building, 335 Railroad Ave, effective Feb. 28. The center was established to help those in Lyons and nearby mountain communities deal with the aftermath of the 2013 flooding.

Although the ship anchored near Loreto around 7:30 a.m., Bob and I put off going ashore until after an early lunch. Other passengers chose the beach, the aquarium, a clambake, or the daylong trip to San Javier Mission. We planned to meet our private guide outside the oldest mission church of Baja California for a tour of a resort community eight miles away.

As Opening Day approaches, the Colorado Rockies and the Colorado Symphony are pleased to announce an historic partnership. Bringing baseball and symphonic music harmoniously together, the Colorado Symphony has created an original theme song to be played at all Rockies home games throughout the 2014/15 season.

Savor the art of wine tasting with the return of “Uncorked,” the second weekend in April at the Denver Art Museum (DAM). Wine experts and novices alike won’t want to miss the chance to taste more than three hundred wines during the wine tasting on April 11. The DAM Uncorked Dinner & Auction on April 12 includes silent and live auctions and a seated dinner.
