Mickey Hawkins

Lyons High School Class of 1969 graduate Mickey Hawkins, the son of Robert N. Hawkins of Denver, and Gloria D. Hawkins of Lyons enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps on March 24, 1969 in Denver. PFC Hawkins arrived in Vietnam on September 24, and was assigned to Company A, 1st Battalion, 7th Marines, 1st MARDIV (Rein) FMF.

Celebration of Life For Gerald Boland

At least a thousand students, friends, colleagues, cohorts, acquaintances, and family attended a Celebration of Life ceremony for Gerald Boland, who was caught in the raging floodwaters in the early morning hours of  September 12, and died.

July 9, 1927 – August 29, 2013

Joan Elizabeth House passed away August 29, in Greeley surrounded by her family.  Joan was born July 9, 1927 in Chicago, Illinois to John J. Kelly and Rosa Freund Kelly. Joan graduated from Lyons High School and Barnes Business College.

Barry Jon Kelly, "Bearcat"

Barry Jon Kelly, better known to his Lyons community as “Bearcat,” passed away on Thursday, October 17, at Longmont United Hospital, surrounded by family and friends.  He was 66 years young and will be missed by all.

Grace Ellen Snyder French

Grace Ellen Snyder French

Grace Ellen Snyder was born to a Pioneer farm family on March 30, 1928, near Berthoud, CO.  Grace was the fifth child of nine to bless this family.  Her young life was spent on the family farm, learning the lessons of this hard life, in preparation for the eventual large family that she raised.  Grace met and married the love of her life, George Harvic French, and they married in Boulder, on April 27, 1944.  George and Grace lived on a farm North of Hygiene until 1949, when they relocated to West of Lyons.  Here, she raised five of their six children, hauling water, and with no electricity for several years. They lived here until 1960, when they moved into the Town of Lyons, where they finished raising their family.  Grace
