Former Lyons resident Nancy Carol Totten (Pigeon) age 65, of Loveland, Colorado passed away on December 2, 2012. She was born August 12, 1947 in Denver to Charles and Evelyn Pigeon. Nancy
graduated from Lyons High School in 1965, and attended Denver Beauty College. She then worked as a beautician in Boulder, Craig, and Loveland before retiring in January of 2010. She married Lyons resident David Totten (son of Clarence and Thelma Totten) on December 31, 1970. Nancy is survived by her husband David; daughter Samantha Shavar and son-in-law Fritz and granddaughters Tiffany and Serena of Gulf Breeze, Florida; as well as son Daniel Totten and daughter-in-law Tracy and four grandchildren Taylor, Paige, Quinn, and Jacob of Evans, Colorado.
Nancy enjoyed the outdoors, and loved to rollerblade, camp, fish, and scuba dive. She and Dave were great road trippers! They were always ready to go, have fun, and experience the world. At her request, no memorial or funeral service is planned. She didn’t want her friends and family to mourn her passing, but rather celebrate her life! Her ashes are traveling to Florida, where they will be made into an artificial reef where her family members will be able to visit and think of her always. She will become their own private dive/fishing spot.
Donation to the National Jewish Health Foundation, in Nancy’s name, would be a great service and tribute to her. The foundation had been working with Nancy for the past few years to ready her body for the lung transplant that she was awaiting at the time of her death.
