He was employed at Penelec before moving to Colorado in 1980. He was self-employed as a master woodworker and specialized in building custom curved staircases.
Dave was an outdoorsman all his life. He loved rafting and was an accomplished fisherman, hunter, rock climber, skier, scuba diver, backpacker, and pilot. He was the type of person who rarely went a month without hiking or camping. He will be dearly missed by family and friends.
He is survived by his parents, Aida and Bob Shotts, his wife Debbie Stewart Shotts, stepdaughter Aubrey Eftekhari and husband Nimma, stepson Nicholas Albright and wife, Noel, and stepgrandchildren: Aidan, Jaxson, Catlyn, and Orion, all of Colorado.
He is also survived by a brother, Keith Shotts, and wife Noel of Bakersfield, CA; two sisters: Ann Etheridge and husband, Don of Cary, NC, Cindy Hiriak and husband Dave of Arden, NC, as well as several nieces and nephews: Grant, Madeleine and Lauren Hiriak of North Carolina and Kevin, Spencer and Jason Shotts of California.
An outdoor memorial service will be held on Saturday October 20, at 2 p.m. at Meadow Park in Lyons. Arrangements are being handled by Carroll-Lewellen Funeral Home in Longmont, Colorado.
