Fred William Niccore died on Thursday, January 5, 2012, in his 72nd year in Loveland, Colorado.

Fred was born October 10, 1939, in Los Angeles, CA to Barbara and Fred Varing.  He graduated from Dorsey High School in Los Angeles, CA, received a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, and a Master of Science in Engineering from CU Boulder.  He worked for Honeywell, Storage Tek, and Maxtor but most of his years were spent at IBM Boulder where he was an analog electronics design engineer.  During his professional career he received numerous awards for his patents and innovations.
Fred always had a smile for everyone.  He loved to tease the ladies.  He was always generous with his time and he loved his family immensely.  An amazing mentor, he inspired his children with his dreams and solid work ethic.  Fred loved to tinker and could fix anything from a tractor to a computer; sometimes that even included duct tape and baling wire.  His love was witnessed in the most practical of ways by fixing things around the house to diagnosing a broken down car over the phone.  ‘Pops’ as he was called by his youngest son, was extremely frugal; he would go to garage sales every weekend to score the best deals.  Square and Round Dancing were one of Fred’s favorite pastimes; he and his wife danced the night away for over 40 years.  He became a life long amateur radio operator at the age of 12; his call sign was W0JFV.  A volunteer firefighter in Sunshine Canyon, he was instrumental at getting the land and funding to build the fire station in Lyons, Colorado.  In recent years, he loved playing with his grand children (Ky, Kepler and Canyon) and god children (Trevor and Evan); he was, after all, a kid at heart.

Fred is preceded in death by his son, Grant William Niccore, and his parents, Fred and Barbara Varing.

Survivors: He is remembered with love by his wife of 43 years, Madeline D. Niccore; brother James Varing and his wife,Vickie; children: Ward Adam Niccore and his wife Jennifer; Brent Forrest Niccore; Glen Peter Niccore; and his grandchildren, Ky Niccore, Kepler Niccore, Canyon Niccore.
