Alice Cumberford Walker was born on August 6, 1919 to Ernest V. and Mabel (Sturgis) Cumberford .  She died on October 6, 2011 in Idaho.
Her family lived in several towns in Missouri and Kansas before moving to Colorado in 1932.  They moved to Lyons, Colorado in 1934.  She graduated from Lyons High School in 1938.  A longtime telephone company employee, she retired in 1973 with 33 years of service
She belonged to several work related groups, was a member of the Lyons Woman’s Club, a former Eastern Star member and was a member of the Old Stone Church in Lyons.  She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing, reading, and crossword puzzles.  She also enjoyed making needlepoint copies of Indian designs, cooking, and baking.
She married H. O. (Howard) Walker in Longmont, Colorado on March 17, 1946.  They made their home in Lyons until 1972 when they purchased a small acreage on Clear Creek near Kooskia, Idaho.  Howard passed away on June 30, 1997.
She is survived by a nephew, William Cumberford Jr., of Lone Jack, Missouri, step nieces Dorothy George and Jean Peila of Lyons, and step nephew David Dirkes of Brush, Colorado.  She is also survived by numerous great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, two nieces, a nephew, and three brothers.
