A Trail Of Love, Power, And Music

Sunday, March 8, brings the much anticipated return to the Stanley Hotel, of Seicento Baroque Ensemble, Colorado’s premier baroque choir specializing in the historically-informed performances of 17th and 18th century choral music. The 2015 Queen Christina of Sweden program will follow this ambiguous icon’s controversial trail of Love, Power and Music. The ensemble’s unique niche in the Colorado choral scene is

Gasoline Lollipops, New Family Dog And Tiffany Christopher

By David McIntrye, Lyons Bluesologist

Well it is a coincidence that I already had Gasoline Lollipops scheduled for Friday, March 6, at Oskar Blues in Lyons. When I hired them for that date I had no idea that they would come into Lyons the weekend before and beat local power trio Interstate Stash Express (ISE) head-to-head in a Battle of the Bands, sponsored by Oskar Blues and the Bolder Boulder.

Zach Deputy – “Looper”

By Lyons Bluesologist, David McIntyre

On his latest release “Another Day” Zach Deputy demonstrates his extraordinary ability to perform and record in multiple contexts. He conveys the sensibilities of a mature singer/songwriter and demonstrates that he is not merely a “looper” with crazy chops, serious pipes, and colorful outfits. It is a warm, mellow album, one that is perfect for after hour soirees and sunsets.

Catching Up With Bella Betts

By Pearl Haddad
Editor’s note: Pearl Haddad will be entering the sixth grade at Lyons Middle/Senior High School next month.

I was so excited when I was asked to write the Pickin’ Sprouts column. I wasn’t sure who to write about, but then I heard about a twelve-year-old girl who just played with Mollie O’Brien in Lyons, and I

Poetry Corner - July 10, 2014

Insatiable
Alexa DiSalvo

Drunken drawings
scribbled on skin
tattoos
I section your body
Will I ever get enough?
So, with pen I ration smooth parts
and rougher ones
the calloused palm
I read like brail
even though I know
That story
by heart
When we’re apart
I shuffle barefoot and bones
malnourished
depraved
reprimanding my indecent hunger
Still, by night hour
mouth tongue fingers
devour...
Meticulous blueprint
blurs wet
ink stains and gloss
So lost
Even though I know
That map by heart.
