The Stone Cup & Kitchen continues their free summer weekend musical brunch series throughout the month of June. This Saturday, June 15, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., it’s modern country music with Longmont singer/songwriter Treena McCurdy. On Sunday, June 16, from 9 a.m. to noon, it’s the “fiddling star” Teddy Carr.

Dan Hicks & The Hot Licks

By Dave McIntyre, Lyons Bluesologist

In a career that has its start in the beginnings of the San Francisco rock music scene as a drummer for the nearly forgotten rock group, the Charlatans (the band that some say, “started it all”), through a series of classic recordings in the 1970’s as leader of Dan Hicks and

Pokey LaFarge & His Big Band

Music fans get ready to be transposed back to the 1930s when Pokey LaFarge and The South City Three (plus two horn players) descend upon Oskar Blues in Lyons on Friday, June 14, starting at 9 p.m. Only in their twenties themselves, these guys know how to delight modern-day audiences while evoking images of days gone by. Though heavily influenced by the greats of the 20’s and 30’s, these guys are no novelty act. They still manage to be authentic, original, fresh, and most important of all, fun!

The band writes and performs songs with titles like, “Keep Your Hands Off My Gal” and “So Long Honeybee, Goodbye.” They play an old-time

Humming House

According to lead vocalist and songwriter, Justin Wade Tam, “Prior to the album, and living in Nashville, the current band members would sing Celtic tunes for fun and drink Irish whiskey in a town where musicians often don’t get a break.” Everything

Great Local Bands Coming To Oskars

The weekend of Friday, April 26, and Saturday, April 27, brings two of my favorite local bands to Oskar Blues in Lyons. The two bands are very different from each other, but similar in their ability to entertain folks with first-class music.
