Put on your boots and jeans, saddle up your pony, and giddy on up to the historic Stanley Hotel! Giddyup Kitty is back in town with a little bit country and a little bit rock and roll. Celebrate spring and have fun on Sunday, April 7, at 2 p.m., with this award winning bluegrass band as they return to Estes for a high-energy performance of country-grass music.
Giddyup Kitty is a four-piece, high-energy, all-female bluegrass band that performs their original material along with carefully selected bluegrass, country and Americana music. The Denver Post says they are “the finest bluegrass you’ll find anywhere.” Weaving fine melodies with rich harmony, these award-winning musicians create a show that leaves an audience joyful, and asking for more!
They call themselves Giddyup Kitty because the name captures the enthusiasm, excitement and energy they feel about their music. Quentin Young from the Longmont Times Call describes Giddyup Kitty as a “bluegrass band made up of serious pickers, accomplished harmonizers and experienced performers.” In 2009, the band placed third at the Telluride Band Competition.
The Estes Park Music Festival (EPMF) participates in the annual Estes Park Duck Race to help raise funds that allow the EPMF to present wonderful musical programs to the residents of the Estes Valley throughout the year. Each Duck Race adoption form sells for $20 with $19 of that money going to the Music Festival (#27) provided you circle the EPMF (#27) on your particular adoption form. In addition, your $20 ticket entitles your adopted duck to race to the finish for big prizes. Your adoption form will detail the many great prizes to be awarded this year.
As a special treat for the Giddyup Kitty audience, Quiltin T. Canvasback, the official mascot of the Duck Race, will make an appearance before the concert. Duck Race adoption forms will be available for sale before and after the concert. Bring your camera and take a picture with Quiltin and enjoy another wonderful “blue grass” afternoon with Giddyup Kitty.
