Today as I arise I am thankful for so many things in Lyons Colorado. I am thankful that so many in our beautiful little town will be able to enjoy Thanksgiving in the town and home we love. It is so wonderful to have Lyonites moving home. There are lights in homes and warmth in spirit abounding everywhere. So an idea occurred to a friend and I this summer on a run about town. What if we held an event, such as a 5K in Lyons? We could follow it by cocktails. Mimosas seemed natural as 5K’s are usually a morning event. This event would not only celebrate the end of summer, the kiddos headed back to school, but also a charitable cause. Sly & The Family Stone weren’t singing the praises of the Meckle family in 1971 when they recorded their number one hit, but they could have been. Earlier this year in March, Dr. Joseph Meckle, D.C., who has had a chiropractic practice here in Lyons for nearly thirty years, had the honor of watching his two daughters, Carly and Jenny, graduate from the Palmer Chiropractic College in Florida.
The young women, both graduates of Lyons High School (Carly in 2002, and Jenny in 2005) received their Bachelor of Science Degrees from Colorado State University in Fort Collins in 2009.Read more: It’s A Family Affair
