It’s no secret that the United States has a major weight problem. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, nearly 70 percent of U.S. adults aged 20 years and older are either overweight or obese. If these rates stay at that high level, Americans will face substantial health problems. Being overweight or obese increases the likelihood of developing diabetes, heart disease, stroke, breathing problems, some cancers, osteoarthritis and gall bladder disease.
To address this problem, Boulder Community Hospital is sponsoring a free, one-hour lecture titled “Managing Your Weight” on Wednesday, Feb. 1, from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Omni Interlocken Spa & Resort, located at 500 Interlocken Blvd. in Broomfield. Board-certified family physician Judy Hobson, DO, of Family Medical Associates will describe how to determine your optimal weight, what actions can lead to weight loss and how to maintain a healthy weight.
Reservations are required. Attendees should call 303-441-0580 or visit bchlectures.org/weight
