New Age, Old Ways seeks to share real ideas about being Native / indigenous, to challenge artists to create without the filter of Western European art aesthetics and to challenge our awareness of the assimilation of old ways by new age strategies. Artists Bob Haozous, Kim Hargrove, Joseph Sanchez and Roxanne Swentzel bring together their collective vision in this multi-sensorial installation that questions our conceptions of Indian-ness.
2012 ORCHID SHOWCASE

More than 200 flowering orchids will be the highlight of the Orangery. New features include orchids spilling from hanging baskets along the north wall and steel arbors drapes with orchids and bromeliads framing the citrus trees along the south wall. The arbors of the Orangery will be flanked by clay pots filled with orchid blooms.

BEHIND-THE-SCENES DAYS

Visitors will have the opportunity to experience behind-the-scenes areas of Denver Botanic Gardens. Members of the Gardens’ library, research, herbaria and laboratories will be on hand inside Gates Garden Court with displays on each of these important areas of the Gardens. In addition, mini-tours of these areas will be available every half hour to allow visitors even greater behind-the-scenes access.

Seedlings classes offer a fun, hands-on way for young children, ages 18 months to six years, to explore the plant world while developing an understanding and appreciation for plants and their importance. Classes include interactive explorations, nature walks and stories for children and their caregivers. Seedlings programs are offered for three different age groups and are modified to fit the developmental needs of each group.
