The Town of Lyons Parks & Recreation Department is offering a Spring permaculture series, #5 & #6 - Full Spectrum Relationship with your Land; a fabulous, exciting roster of sessions plus hands-on fun on-the-farm. The first class (#5) “Seed/Early Plants” is Saturday ,March 12. The second class (#6) “Fungi/Spawn is Saturday, April 9.
The classes will start at Walt Self Senior Center, downstairs, and then carpool for hands-on project fun at Jen-Lo Farm in Lyons. The cost is only $15 per session (Seniors & Students $10), and is sponsored by Transition Town Lyons and Lyons Parks & Rec. - March 12 - first garden bedding steps. We’ll plant cold crop seeds, do fun exercises, learn about Core PDC: microclimate, beneficial herbs & insects, pattern, sector, zones.
- April 9 - plug mushroom spawn: rope, oak, and lodge pole pine, guerilla farming techniques, invisible benefits of mycological underground prep for above ground beds, Core PDC: rewilding, natural materials, medicinal aspects, ethnocentric power of plant species, undomesticated creatures.

Plus, local and guest Certified Instructors will offer Permaculture and Transition core topics observing and designing cycling, regenerative, resilient systems that provide a positive future, food, energy and shelter while fulfilling our responsibility to care for Earth, provide for people, and create shared surplus.
