Art Opening At The Fork

Lyons local, and Dutch artist Jacob Leeuwenburgh paints in his uniquely recognizable way, with bright colors and a multitude of materials. His subjects are often semi-abstract creatures and he is known for his use of gold leaf layered in his acrylic paintings. To create structure on the canvas surface he often finishes his pieces off with different mediums and acrylic varnish.

Ride aboard Coast Guard Cutter Eagle prize of essay, art contests

Operation Sail, Inc., the national non-profit organization that produces tall ship events commemorating patriotic American milestones, today announced its sponsorship of an essay contest and an art contest for high school students in association with the USS Constitution Museum, the National Maritime Historical Society, the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Coast Guard.

Winners of the contest will be invited to sail aboard America’s tall ship, the Coast Guard Cutter Eagle, during one of the six, planned OpSail 2012 events.
