How appropriate that an art show titled “The Holy Grail” would be presented in The Stone Cup. Lyons artist Sally King (of the bear sculptures seen throughout town) will be the featured artist at The Stone Cup & Kitchen beginning July 1, and running through September.
In her own words, Ms. King describes her inspiration for her latest work. “We are drawn into our human lives by our own incredible love for the planet and human life, so much so as to not be able to hold back. We had to come to add our love to the mix. And the very moment that we said yes to our human life is a divine moment, that is why when we return to the feeling of the “yes” moment it connects us to a current felt state of being which reinstates the essential self, enabling us to assist in the big picture where everything is connected and sacred.
These oldest stories are rich in metaphors and helpful to explore. What if the Holy Grail is the womb of your mother? The place you grew into your human body, the sacred vessel of the beginning of your divine life?
These works of art are a mix of elements of life that I am passionate about. Flowers, their wonder and surprise, their color and variety. Bears, who reconnect us to our hearts and remind us to just take it all in. And babies and their mothers. As an artist subject matter chooses you and not the other way around.”
“My contact with the Siddhe”
By Sally King
A black panther came out of my closet when I was about four years old.
It gave me pure love and deep affection and I received this gift from its heart to mine
As a woman in my fifties I began to paint black bears
And always they felt to me to be expressions of love.
Just today I put these two events together.
I also paint flowers which was another contact I had as a child with deep nature.
It was love that drew me here
It was the magnetic pull of the planet with her big green heart and all that being here entails
I wanted in
And so did you
When the challis is full
It is our delight to see it overflow toward the sea.
It is not contained
It is emergence, it is grace.
Who knew that the zest for life was so simple
I just hadn’t understood that the action required to activate zest was to love it all
That in honoring the boundary, the sovereignty in the other,
Whatever that other is,
the refrigerator, the clock, spoon, tea bag, tree, rock, dog, sky, person in the room.
It is natural to us but be didn’t know it.
Honoring the incarnation of everything
It is natural to us but we didn’t know it.
Honoring the incarnation of everything with its
sacred moment of beginning.
There is no hierarchy
The wall is sacred and so is the human leaning against it
All that exists benefits from being seen with the eyes of love
And it then sees you back with love
The flow flows over the cup causing the cup to be a grail.
Emergence is the expanded state
