There is a complete listing of participating artists by location on the website, and ohm salon + gallery will be hosting a group exhibit for the weekend of the studio tour with an opening on Friday evening, May 20, from 5 to 9 p.m. Everything from jewelry to furniture and painting to sculpture will be on display and for sale throughout the tour weekend.
This two day open artist studio tour is self-guided. A map of the tour is available at many local businesses, as well as downloadable online. The map shows a numbered listing by location as well as many Lyons landmarks, places to picnic, restrooms, parking, and more. The entire tour loop is approximately twelve miles and is entirely accessible by bike (May is National Bike Month)! The tour can also be experienced in sections on foot or even by kayak!
The Clarifier Project is getting rolling this spring with an exciting event and workdays scheduled throughout the summer. Cathy and Priscilla really hope that you can make the time to participate in the fun! The first public event of the spring is during the Lyons Studio Tour, May 21 and 22, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Clarifier (just over the pedestrian bridge at Black Bear Hole). Local artists will be there to work, and they invite you to join them. On Saturday morning they will be organizing and preparing, and on Sunday morning they plan to begin, again, the process of putting mosaic tiles on the surface.
Starting, Wednesday, June 1, there will be work events every Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m., in the evening and every Sunday morning from 10 to noon. During these times you can participate in the creation of the mosaic sections and help in many other ways. The work is slow and can be demanding, but it is fun and rewarding. Organizers ask participants to sign in at each event and wear comfortable work clothes that will protect you from the weather and critters. If you have any questions, or for more frequent updates and current photos of the project, please visit the new blog.
Also, a million thanks goes out to those who participate in the project and to these businesses and organizations who have supported The Clarifier Project: The Lyons Community Foundation, The Boulder County Arts Alliance, BCAA Neodata Foundation, Scientific and Cultural Facilities District, SCFD Tier III, Loukonen Brothers Stone Co., Inc., Urban Oasis Design, The Town of Lyons, The Lyons Historical Society, and Confluence Community Arts.
