The weather outside may be “frightful,” but inside at the Walt Self Senior Center, the sun is coming out, and it’s downright “delightful!” Priscilla Cohan and Cathy Rivers, the two driving forces behind the Clarifier Project (a huge community mosaic endeavor), have brought together members of the Golden Gang, students from the Lyons
Middle/Senior Honor Society, and members of the GAP intergenerational group to work on creating a five-foot--diameter “sun” for the west face of the clarifier tank. A smaller “moon” mosaic will also be created to adorn the east face.
The sun and moon will be made up of many individual dimensional clay tiles, which will be reassembled and installed later this year when the weather is a little warmer.
