The sun and moon will be made up of many individual dimensional clay tiles, which will be reassembled and installed later this year when the weather is a little warmer. In the mean time, the group met last Wednesday (March 2) to discuss possible designs. They came up with a beauty, and began the process of projecting and tracing the design onto paper, then plastic sheeting. The next step will be to cut out and number the shapes, and each piece will be used as a template pattern for the individual tiles. The completed tiles will be fired, glazed, and reassembled to make the “sun puzzle,” which will be a lasting tribute to the Golden Gang’s participation in this project (their logo is a sun), as well as to the high school students in the community.
