Wow first a nice rain, and now a nice BIG snowstorm, and more coming (13” yesterday), which will green the grass, save us from fires, give us drinking water, help the farmers, and is truly worth millions of dollars to all. We are all very thankful.
I have an anniversary coming up; April 23, 1950, F. LaVerne Johnson of Niwot and I were married in the Lyons Methodist Church, with Rev. Albert Wagner presiding. Truly a long time ago. I worked for O. J. RameyRead more: About Town - April 18, 2013

Monday was April Fool’s Day however, the weather was not fooling when it was so great Easter Sunday. We hope all enjoyed Easter. The Fire District’s Easter egg hunt with Mr. Bunny was great with lots of kids and lots of prizes. Churches were filled with worshipers happy that the Lord “arose” so many years ago to save us from our sins, and give us something to “look” to at all times. And then, of course, more Easter egg hunts, brunches, dinners with our loved ones, a ride to the hills, games, picnics, etc. An enjoyable day!Read more: About Town - April 4, 2013

Two snow storms in one week! The first was nice and wet and melted right away and now it is snowing again.
Good for the country. Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow! We certainly enjoy Daylight Savings Time, giving us longer evenings.
This weekend is the “wearin’ of the green” in honor of all descendants of Ireland. In the early 1800s, many of those who were jailed in Ireland would be sent to Australia. Many Irish came to the United States to escape the yoke of British tyranny, thus we honor them for their perseverance. Most of us have some Irish blood “by golly!” Wear green and celebrate!Read more: About Town - March 14, 2013

That was really a nice snow; of course, the roads were icy and several things were cancelled, but we got some much-needed moisture. In the square dancing world, there were three out-of-state callers in the area, and half of their dances were cancelled. Dean Doberman of Norfolk, NE, spent the weekend with Gary and Nell Coffey, with his Saturday night dance in Ft. Collins cancelled; he then traveled for a dance in Colorado Springs on Sunday; but square dances in Greeley, Bennett, and a couple in Denver were also cancelled.Read more: About Town - March 28, 2013

Say, that was a nice snow we had Monday. It looks like spring is just around the corner. A nice spring snow that melted right away, some crocus are blooming, the days are longer, and Daylight Savings Time is this Sunday morning at 2 a.m., turn your clocks forward one hour. Yes, spring is sprung.
FOR YOUR SAFETY
When the trailer home burned last week, we wondered if it had smoke detectors? I haven’t heard, but that is one thing we must all purchase; a smoke detector as well as a carbon monoxide detector. The cost is around $30 for both. Go to Clark’s Hardware today, and be safe. We read where James of the trailer needs clothing (Pants size 30” x 32”, shirts size large, and shoes size 10)) and household goods. Help him out. Leave stuff at the firehouse, as he lost everything in that fire!
