FAREWELL TO JULIE, SANDY, AND KIRK, dedicated Mayor and Trustees, who devoted more hours than you can think of, to you the town residents.  A farewell reception was given in their honor Monday, before the regular town board meeting. Spring is here, and Spring Break. The weather is good, the crocuses (or is it croci?) are blooming, and the town is recovering. All seem to be doing fairly well.

Finding Fossils Close to Home

I moved to Colorado from Texas right out of college when I was hired to teach in Jefferson County. I stood awestruck at the sight of Red Rocks Amphitheater from the playground of Bear Creek Elementary. Amazed, I listened to my second graders talk about collecting arrowheads at nearby Soda Lakes. Our favorite unit included dinosaurs and a field trip to the Natural History Museum in Denver. That was a long time ago.
