Another week gone by, and great weather. It gave folks time to cut their grass, plant some flowers, etc. We had a pretty nice rain, causing the grass to green and the flowers to bloom. Let’s enjoy this nice spring weather while we can.

Sunday was Mothers’ Day and although cold and snowy, I am sure you all had time to remember your mother, for all she has done for you. A plant, dinner, corsage, drive, church, etc., no doubt made her proud that you were hers. My mother was a schoolteacher, and we had to get our homework done by a coal oil lamp (before REA in 1937), and walk to school

I moved to Colorado from Texas right out of college when I was hired to teach in Jefferson County. I stood awestruck at the sight of Red Rocks Amphitheater from the playground of Bear Creek Elementary. Amazed, I listened to my second graders talk about collecting arrowheads at nearby Soda Lakes. Our favorite unit included dinosaurs and a field trip to the Natural History Museum in Denver. That was a long time ago.
