Hi all. Compliments to the Lyons Recorder for finding a place (Bob Gilson’s brother in Longmont) to produce the Lyons Recorder. We need a paper, to read after we get our wits back in order, and as a way to preserve this history, which we will remember as “’The Worst Flood Ever!”

Aaaahh, cooler weather, and some rain. We can’t deny we enjoy that. We have had more than forty-seven days of ninety degree weather this summer. We will be happy to welcome fall and cooler weather next week.

Another hot week gone by. Mr. O’Dell said his kids are sweltering in the elementary school gym. Wow, a hundred degrees are too much. If you have some ideas as to how we can get air conditioning in the gym, let us know; grants, fundraisers, volunteers, reduction of price, donations, etc. (303) 823-5925.

Another week gone by. A little cooler now, but a hundred degrees in midweek. School has started and seems to be going well. Big plans are being made for this Friday’s first game, September 6, with the annual BBQ from 4 to 7 p.m., followed by the football game versus Yuma at 7 p.m. The entire community is invited to take part in this annual event. Free dinner when you buy a game ticket.

Another week gone by, and an important one. School started last Thursday, with a “Meet and Greet” your teacher at the Elementary, and “Back to School Nights” etc. A thrilling time for the little ones, finally school; for the 6th graders, finally in Middle School, and of course for the 9th graders, finally in High School. Most of all for the seniors, I finally made it. Good luck to all.
We are ever proud of the fact that Lyons stays in the top for studies. We may be small but we are mighty. We note in the Department of Education’s Transitional Colorado Assessment
