Hi Everyone: This has truly been a sad week to see our town battered like it was.
And more disheartening to realize that one person died, the many buildings and homes and land lost, but we are thankful we all made it outin the middle of the night! It seems to us that things are moving slowly, but the infrastructure of our town is the most important.

I moved to Colorado from Texas right out of college when I was hired to teach in Jefferson County. I stood awestruck at the sight of Red Rocks Amphitheater from the playground of Bear Creek Elementary. Amazed, I listened to my second graders talk about collecting arrowheads at nearby Soda Lakes. Our favorite unit included dinosaurs and a field trip to the Natural History Museum in Denver. That was a long time ago.
