This is Colorado weather – snow on Sunday that cancelled ball tournaments and the Rockies game, and now today, nice, but tomorrow more wind! Let’s hope we have a lot more snow or rain! It is too dry, and the danger of wildfires is high. They say April showers bring May flowers.

D W KING
Well, D.W. King’s family: daughter, Ticha, her husband, Mario, and their sons, Joey and Raul are now headed home, but MORE FUNDS ARE NEEDED. They rented a U-Haul that took rental, insurance, taxes, gas, motel, and food, but they will be back in McAllen, Texas, before this is out. They will build a small storage shed to hold the items they hauled home. They gave the museum several boxes of his “Birds and Wildlife” collection, held a garage sale, attended a memorial last Tuesday at the Lyons Community Church, and visited Meadow Park where he spent a lot of time watching the eagles. The Scouts took a lot for their annual garage sale, the clothes will go to our goodwill center, so D.W. helped a lot of folks. We were unable to get any financial help from the VFW (no answer) nor the American Legion (only give to living veterans), so we still need help.
The Memorial consisted of piano and guitar songs by Vance French, recorder, flute, and piano music by Kunga, tributes by: Kunga-Sapan Richophe, Kathleen Spring, Ruth Major, Mary Hunt, Merlyn Williams, LaVern Johnson, Mary Lou Wallace, and Janet Freeman. Poems by daughter, Ticha, and a musical mediation to D. W., by Kunga, Vance, and grandsons, Joey, and Raul. Very impressive. We all did our part to help this family say “Farewell” to D. W. King, father and grandfather. They are ever grateful.
If you haven’t donated to this cause, please do so. We still need help! Who knows who might be in the same situation, and to know Lyons friends will come forth! Send donations to D. W. King Fund, Box 920, Lyons, CO 80540. Our thanks!
