It’s that time again. Lyons Minnie’s Red Hat Club is having their annual recruitment of new members this February. If you are a lady 55 years or older, and love to experience new restaurants and fun activities, while nuturing friendships, then look into joining this Red Hat group.
With Mardi Gras just a couple of weeks away, I thought I’d take advantage of a true zydeco band being in the area, and present Jo Jo Reed for the first time at Oskar Blues. Most music fans usually enjoy this music, though they know very little about it’s history, or where it comes from; so before I tell you about The Happy Hill Band, I thought I would try to give you a little of zydeco history.
The Loveland Museum/Gallery, on the corner of 5th and Lincoln Streets, this year celebrates its 75th Anniversary with special exhibits like the current “Portraits of the Prairie, Nebraska Landscapes that Inspired Willa Cather.” The show runs through April 15, and features watercolors, watercolor/pastels, scratchboard, and pen and ink works by former dentist turned artist, Richard Schilling, whose works have appeared in the Governor’s Invitational Art Show. Oftentimes, he wanders around the gallery and welcomes questions or comments.
