Adventure Film Fest A Big Success

The Lyons Adventure Film Fest fundraiser drew more than two hundred people to Oskar Blues in Lyons Saturday, March 22, and raised more than $7700 for the Lyons’ Parks & Rec Department.

“I thought the event was a huge success, not only because it raised a good chunk of money to rebuild the St. Vrain Corridor Trail, but also because it offered the community an opportunity to have fun,” said organizer Lizzy Scully. “I think the Town needs these kind of events to stay psyched. We are still surrounded by a devastated landscape, so keeping things positive and upbeat will go a long way in inspiring people to stay motivated for the recovery.”

The event included a presentation by Scully on her rock climbing expedition to Greenland, two Winter Wildlands Alliance sponsored ski films, and a dynamic mountain bike free ride film called “Arrival,” sponsored by the Boulder Mountainbike Alliance. The evening’s event also included a silent auction, a lively raffle, and a musical performance by La Rue Vital with special guest, Lily Fangz.

Oskar Blues Marketing Director Chad Melis agreed that the event was a success, stating: “It was great to see the community come out in full force to support our local athletes, bands, and organizations all in the name of getting the Lyons Parks & Rec department back to providing quality outdoor experiences and events for the adventurous spirit of Lyons.”

“It was really heartening to see how many sponsors and organizations came through to support this event,” Scully added. “Dozens of businesses donated $8000 worth of auction and raffle items. The folks at Oskar Blues were especially awesome. Their staff did an excellent job supporting the event, and they generously donated their space, a sound person, and a $700 pair of skis. Thanks so much to everyone who came out for the night!”

Scully and the Town of Lyons would like to thank all of the sponsors and volunteers who generously donated time and silent auction items.
